If your looking to get a hot Hip-Hop Record that's gonna blow up, follow these 5 studio tips:
1. Rehearse your music
Rehearsing your Bars is a very crucial part of making a hit record. You have to get that cadence and energy! The fans can tell if your reading off your phone or paper because you will sound mono-toned. Have you ever heard a hit record on the radio where the artist sounded like your 3rd grade librarian reading the new book arrival? HELL NO! So rehearse your Bars!
2. Equipment
The sound quality of your record needs to sound professional (Industry Quality). Record labels pay keen attention to the quality of an artists music. if it sounds like crap, people are gonna treat it like crap and skip right over it! The type of recording equipment, i.e software, microphone, mixer, that you use will have a big impact on the quality of the sound of your record. Now I'm not saying go out and buy $10,000 dollars worth of top of the line equipment. But if your going to have a home studio, invest in your craft and spend a little extra money getting decent equipment. Otherwise call and see how much studio time is at your local recording studio if that option is available to you.
3. Content of Your Music
I know i know, music now days seems to be nothing but repetitive auto tuned lines and a catchy hook with a fire beat. But, A Lot of fans are looking for music with content. Yes fans like their club bangers and party songs, but they also like songs with meaning, songs they can relate to. Have you ever been in a mood and just found a song that explains the exact way you are feeling and practically took the words right out of your mouth? Those are songs with content! Those are the songs that people are going to play OVER and OVER again! So be that artist that creates songs that having meaning, but also create a club banger here and there as well.
4. Production
Music production has come a very long way with the advances of technology. You can practically take almost any sound in the world an put it into a beat. Hot beats are a big thing, if your fans can vibe to it and it makes them feel good, they are more likely to enjoy your record! Also with production, make sure you lease your beats or create your own. Most beats you can buy for around 20 USD. Nobody wants to listen to a song with a bunch of beat tags and record labels dont like to see that either.
5. Audio Engineering
This tip somewhat goes along with sound quality, but it is also an entity of itself. Audio Engineering is a big part of putting a record together and finding an engineer that is good at what her or she does and can match the style you are looking for in a song is crucial. Audio Engineers work a lot with mixing and master as well as vocal editing. Now some of you may think that you got this down because you watched a few YouTube videos, but you couldn't be farther from the truth. Not only does engineering take years of practice, but most engineers have some sort of college degree. They have been specifically trained to mix, master, and tune your vocals. So if i were you, i would hire a professional to get the job done right.
